Change is on the way!

After senator Obama's nomination, it is time to gather our strength towards winning the presidency. All of us that supported Barack's campaign hope now that people will see that the republican nominee is nothing but a bad copy of G.W. Bush. A man with nothing to offer to the states or the world.
People need hope in the eyes of a new politician like senator Obama. It is time for change. Maybe with Hillary Clinton as vice president, as well. Eitherway, change is on the way, at last!

Though I agree with you about Obama's candidacy, I do question what a Hillary Clinton vice-presidency would represent.

First, let me state that Hillary Clinton is an extraordinary woman. Intelligent, hard-working, driven, and dedicated to the political and legal processes, she represents a generation of American women. She is the first woman to be a serious contender to represent a party in a presidential election. None of this should be taken lightly.

The problem is that, since HC represents the old school Democrat, having her as the VP would be contrary to his message of change. She comes with all of the baggage from her years as first lady...and I'm not just referring to Bill. A plethora of speeches where she "misspoke" (aka "lied") would lead one to question her integrity. Remember the "sniper fire" in Bosnia incident and the years of "experience" that included being the wife of a President? How about the "significant role" she had during the Northern Ireland negotiations? Would dishonesty during perceived public pressure be acceptable to Obama?

Does anyone remember the health care fiasco during her husband's presidency or her voting for the war with Iraq without reading the pertinent information provided by the government? Most recently, check out how she handled her campaign. Initially, she was the frontrunner! Pundits assumed she was the nominee from the beginning. Yet, somehow she ended up losing the nomination and being $20 million in debt. Do those situations inspire confidence in her ability to make sound decisions? Could Obama value the advice from a VP like HC?

She seems to have arrived where she is on the coat tails of her husband, when she could have been there on her own merits, without reference to her sidekick. Margaret Thatcher got to her position without having to drag her husband into it. HC is a smart woman, why couldn't she have done something similar? Do we really need both Hillary and Bill as co-VPs? Does Obama want to contend with two ambitious VPs rather than one?

There is no doubt that Obama will place Hillary on the short list. However, Obama may want to take a step back and make a long list - of qualities and characteristics he wants in a vice president. Let that list be the deciding factor for the ultimate decision. Obama should not be swayed by pollsters and pundits, as they will always come up with something to say and are often fickle. Who are the pollsters polling? What is the natural inclination of the pundit? Those are uncontrollable. However, making a profound decision based on what Obama knows to be right and true would be the strongest case for any person he considers as his VP. Obama should let his own sense of integrity and wisdom guide his decision.
