Warming the relationships

I still have my doubts about Hillary Clinton as the SS, but I think she will do better than Rice when it come to diplomacy towards countries that were "neglected" from the Bush administration.
Now, that - thank God- Bush is gone, the Greek secretary of State met with Hillary Clinton.
The new SS gave a warm welcome to the greek minister, declaring that the U.S.A are looking -finally- for a stronger and closer relationship with Greece. During their meeting, they talked about the problems in the Balkanic region, the Middle East, Greek - Turkish relationships (like the ongoing Turkish hostility in the Aegean sea) and Cyprus, mainly. Issues like the FYROM name dispute were left out.
Without illusinating about a dramatic change of U.S interests or policy in the region, I can feel that president Obama and his ministers are truly wanting a new direction of their diplomatic influence, starting from countries like Greece.
As I continue to say, the signs are good till know and we will just have to wait and see...

Greece welcomes Obama's frends...

Yesterday, sen. Richard Derbin and Alex Giannoulias minister of economics (IL) , visited Greece for a few days.
Their aim was to talk about different issues in concern of our territory like Greek - Turkish relations, Cyprus, Fyrom and so on.They both said for themselves that they are not dipomats but only very good friends of president Obama, who wishes to know about every country's thoughts in the region about significant matters (and so they will visit Cyprus and Turkey as well). Alex Giannoulias in particular is the living representation of the "new blood" of American - Hellenic politicians who can make a difference in the States and maybe in issues with strong Greek interest. Anyway, we are happy to have one of us among president Obama. I' m still with him all the way!

First days of President Obama. It's for real.

President Obama seems to fulfill everybody's hopes of change in significant matters of American policy.
Decisions like the closing of Guantanamo, abortion measures, the president's attitude towards the "golden boys" of Wall street, as well as his change of position towards states like Iran and Israel, are encouraging.
Obama probably is a man of his word and that makes us all proud for supporting him over the last months. I would dare to say that his presence in the oval office consists one of the few rays of light in the global darkness of depression.
Go, Barack, we are right behind you!
